Circa 2004, changes to the rules and regulations of the Ministry of Natural Resources made it impossible for
Second Chance to operate as both a wildlife rehabilitation center
and shelter for domestic animals. Thereafter, Second Chance’s activities were confined to domestic animals and,
presently, principally cats. Currently,
SCWS is home to some 180 cats. HOURS: The sanctuary is open to the public every day,
from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
